Head of Information Architecture

We are:london are looking for an experienced, inspiring and creative person to lead our growing Information Architecture (IA) team. IA is central to our organisation and sits along side our research and strategy services.

We’re looking for someone who has a deep appreciation of user experience, how it is achieved and can work with our research and strategy specialists to deliver this. We require a real-world pragmatist who can work with clients to help them create products and services that meet their customers’ needs.

IA and UI expertise, and an eye for beautiful design are essential.

Key role requirements

• 4+ years experience in digital agency or consultancy
• 2+ years leading digital design projects and teams, focusing on UX, IA and UI
• Solid understanding of the principles of Information Architecture and interaction design
• Able to scope, sell and lead information Architecture projects
• Expertise and experience in IA and UI design practice
• A eye for effective visual and brand design
• A consultative approach to working with clients
• Able to see the big picture and work with the detail of projects
• Expertise with IA and UI rapid prototyping tools (Visio, Axure, etc)
• Appreciation of brand integration, cross-platform IA and accessibility
• Excellent presentation skills in spoken English, superb written-English communications skills

Responsibilities

• Team leader responsible for the day-to-day management and development of our interaction design team
• The role will include a combination of hands-on project work, project lead and business development
• Strategic ownership of the department’s growth and direction
• Public speaking, presenting tutorials and seminars at conferences or at client sites
• Take project briefs, create scope and budgets
• Manage the delivery of project work

Mid-weight Research Consultant

We are growing a team of next generation user-experience research specialists. We’re experts in research methodologies but our approach goes a step further and delivers real creative insight, and recommendations for digital strategy, content strategy, customer segmentation as well as design.

We are looking for researchers who can conduct and analyse research data and then present insights in a exciting and meaningful way; in person, writing or by whatever means you think will get the point across to our clients!

We are currently based in Battersea (with a lovely view of the river) but we’ll soon outgrow this space and will move to the centre of London in 2010.

Key responsibilities

• Conducting lab-based user testing sessions, remote user-testing sessions, quantitative studies
• Project administration
• Presenting research work to clients
• Contributing to business development activities such as writing blog posts etc.

• A consultant with a good understanding of UX and UCD principles and methodologies, and a proven track record applying these for a range of digitally based products and services
• A capable public speaker - a significant element of the role is presenting research work to clients so confidence and clarity are a must
• Someone with commercial awareness. The ability to link research findings to the business requirements of clients is central to our approach to consulting
• An individual with expertise of strategic as well as tactical level work
• Someone who is adaptable; research methodologies provide a good framework, but we like to be experimental in our approach, developing bespoke research solutions that gather rich insight and are communicated in an engaging way to clients.
