Not to be confused of course with those fiddly multi-level menus where you have to keep your mouse in just the right place or it all disappears! Mega drop-downs look like a great alternative for sites with a lot of content, thanks for posting these examples :)

Hi, the lead poster has been spamming blogs regarding Tobii equipment a lot recently, including a students blog page, and other websites. I, like Robertino, challenged the accuracy of his claims and offered to have a multi unit side-by-side shoot out with various brands (and he means SMI not SDI - hence there is a limited amount of industry knowledge demonstrated here) and received no reply.

Becky is correct in that Tobii is the market leading solution, allows for greater freedom of head movement, faster and more stable calibration and the most flexible out of the box solution on the market.

I will restate our offer of comparing different solutions in a comparitive test to show our confidence in the Tobii solution.

I can't agree enough. It's a shocking example of creative agency blinding the client with fluff and ideas, whilst completely ignoring the customer and what they want.

Why, why, why did they not bother to show their customers the site? They could have just asked a bod in the street and saved a lot of pain. Yuk, Yuk Yuk!

I was wondering what this bing thing was that came up on my browser. I thought it was one of those cyber squatter sites - you know that ones that always show up high in a google search and get in the way when you're looking for something. "Sure we know everything, you want to know about molecular biology of the siberian rat, we have that, just click on us. You'll be sorry you didnt!"

Anyway I dont use Bing because I dont like the font for Bing, its horrid. Or the name for that matter - not that theres anything wrong with the name bing - for a person, great singer - at least some thought so, but honestly for microsoft to use that is a bit too weird. And is that images of rocks under the logo? who thought of that? Yeah lets make people revolted by our ologo, that'll make people use the service.

Interesting comment. I would like to know more about you and the claims you have there. What kind of experiences do you have?

I believe that in the last years much more academic and commercial publications were made based on the usage of Tobii systems than with any other eye tracking systems. You can check that on Google scholar research. Also regarding the customers and references that Tobii has, you will find basically the complete who-is-who in academic and commercial research. How would that be possible if the accuracy and technology would be so bad?

Please don't take this as an offence, but can you prove any of the claims you posted? Even on google I couldn't find SDI in Germany. How sure are you that you don't mean SMI???

Please feel free to contact me if you want to discuss further: robertino.pereira@tobii.com.

We have used Tobii for a while and whilst their old software was a bit flakey, their new kit is great. As for our services, well you'll have to ask our clients about that, but all I can say is that we are leading the field of eye-tracking and reactional lab based usability research. Accuracy wise, we don't rely just on eye-tracking for any research, so I can't comment on that, but so far it's been spot on.
I'll look into SDI, etc and thanks for the recommendations, if you have more info that might help please let me know.

Why are you using the Tobii technology? They promise a lot, but deliver not as much. There is much better equipment available from SDI, Seeing Machines, and others. It does not say much for your services if they are based on equipment that is not the most accurate.
